Is it free?

• Yes! Text Me is a free service that works over your existing internet data plan (the same you use for email and web browsing). You still have to check your phone operator contract for your data plan details, but if you have unlimited internet access from your iPhone, you won't have extra charge.

Is it real SMS/MMS?

• No, Text Me is an iPhone-to-iPad-to-iPod Touch messenger. Messages look like real SMS, you will get push notifications when Text Me is not running on your device, but technically, this is not real SMS.

What about your privacy policy? Do you backup messages?

• Messages are stored in a secured database and stored only until the recipient receives them. Already read messages are removed from the database every 5 minutes.
  No personal data are used in any way, apart from operating the Text Me service.
  We won't sell or give your email address or personal data to anyone.

What is this "Security Code/PIN" thing?

• You can use this "secret code" to change the device linked to your account.
  
  This is pretty useful if your iDevice has been replaced or if you changed it for a newer one ;)
  
  If your are creating an account for the first time and Text Me asks for this code, this is because you are trying to use a nickname already taken by another user.
  Pick another one !

Can I link multiple devices to the same account ?

• Not yet, but we're working on it !
  
  In the meantime, you can use group discussions to emulate this feature. Create a group discussion with all your accounts and one or more other recipients. All your devices will receive all messages from this discussion.

How to send a message?

• To compose a new message, follow these steps:
  - Tap the compose button
  - Type your contact's nickname in the "To" field
  - Write your message
  - Tap the send button
  - Tap "Send now"
  
  Note: Your contacts must have install Text Me on their device before they can get your messages.
  
  

  

How to delete chat sessions?

• You can delete a chat session with the edit button in the discussion flow or by swiping (left or right) your finger on a message in the main window.
  
  

  

How to delete a message?

• In a discussion, tap on the icon in front of the message and choose the delete action.
  
  

  

I can't find the "send video" feature?

• This feature is only available for iPhone 3GS & iPhone 4.

How to start a group chat?

• First, all the participants should use Text Me for iPhone 1.1 or Text Me for iPad 1.0.1 to take advantage of this feature.
  
  To start a new group chat, tap the compose button, add at least two recipients, compose your message and tap on the send button. Choose "Send as Group Chat" option.
  
  

  

How to rename a group?

• In the main screen, tap on the group picture then choose "Rename this group".
  
  

  

How to add a new member in a group chat?

• In the group chat discussion window, tap on the "Edit" button, then choose "Add new member".

How to leave a group?

• In the group chat discussion window, tap on the "Edit" button, then choose "Leave this group".
  Warning: All messages from this group will be deleted.

How to enable push notifications?

• Go to your device Settings, in the Notifications section, switch on Notifications for Text Me.

How to hide message preview ?

• Go to the Text Me Settings, in the "General" tab, in "Push notification" section, switch "Message Preview" off.

I don't get push notifications on my iPod Touch, why?

• Please be aware that iPod touch turns off its WiFi signal when unplugged and/or in sleep mode (screen turned off). You will not receive new message notifications when your iPod touch is in this state.
  
  For the best Text Me experience, try to keep your iPod touch connected to power source as much as possible.

How to remove ads?

• If you are using the free version of Text Me, you can remove ad banners through an In-App purchase, available in the Settings "About" tab.
